Tweaks: ⌘-click on Mac to Open Link in New Tab
This problem has been bothering me for months. Here's the fix.
I spend a lot of time reading online. I often encounter an inline link that I want to open in a new window, not opening in the current tab.
The theory is that on MacOS, I should simply type ‘⌘’—the ‘splat’ or ‘command’ key—at the same time as clicking. However, in at least the past six months, that hasn’t worked reliably. Sometimes, I have to click several times before it does work. I even thought there might be something wrong with my relatively new MacBook. Fooling with the settings for the trackpad accomplished nothing.
I finally gave up and did some searching on the subject and found the answer.
You have to press the ‘⌘’ first and then click, with a short delay before the click. Some say it’s a one-second delay, but it seems shorter to me.
But, it seems to have solved my problem.
